Friends of Chimborazo Playground

Located between North 29th and 31st Streets and East Grace Street, the Chimborazo playground and recreational area currently contains a playground, four basketball courts, a tennis court, the city’s only pétanque courts and a storage facility. The playground and recreational area is part of the greater Chimborazo Park, located a block away at 32nd and E. Broad Streets. The Friends of Chimborazo Playground is a grassroots non-profit organization seeking to improve the safety and beauty of the playground and recreation area at Chimborazo Park. Everyone is invited to join and share their ideas for making it a beautiful place for community members of all ages to play, gather and enjoy. Anyone can join and membership is free.

Updates from the Friends of Chimborazo Playground as of June 19, 2020:

After meeting with our community liaison at the City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities, we have gotten them to clear the handicap ramp and cut the fence so that the playground is handicap and stroller accessible again. This ramp is at the entrance off of 30th street.
We have a Pollinator Garden project we are working on to beautify the sign at the front of the playground, to educate and to provide for the butterflies and bees. We are looking for donations either monetary or physical items!
