Friends of Chimborazo Playground

Located between North 29th and 31st Streets and East Grace Street, the Chimborazo playground and recreational area currently contains a playground, four basketball courts, a tennis court, the city’s only pétanque courts and a storage facility. The playground and recreational area is part of the greater Chimborazo Park, located a block away at 32nd and E. Broad Streets. The Friends of Chimborazo Playground is a grassroots non-profit organization seeking to improve the safety and beauty of the playground and recreation area at Chimborazo Park. Everyone is invited to join and share their ideas for making it a beautiful place for community members of all ages to play, gather and enjoy. Anyone can join and membership is free.

Please help the Friends of Chimborazo Playground to purchase new playground equipment for the children of Church Hill through a tax-deductible donation to our stretch goal campaign!

Donations can be made at the bottom of the page (for mobile) or on the right of your screen (desktop)! Beginning today all donations made through the website will be put towards this effort.

As you may know there was an incident earlier this year that resulted in an outdated piece of equipment being removed from Chimborazo playground. Friends of Chimborazo Playground in consultation with parents in the community decided that this is a great time to do more to improve and maximize our beloved yet compact playground.

We are working with Kompan, a company that manufactures amazing playground equipment and together our goal is to not only bring safe and fun equipment to the playground but to more effectively use the available space.
We can fit up to three pieces of dynamic high-quality equipment and we want to do everything we can to deliver that for the children of Church Hill!

The City is very supportive of the plan however there is little to no funding available on their end right now.
Our instinct is that we should go for it and that as a passionate and motivated community we can make this happen ourselves.
Between tax-deductible donations from this group, our neighbors, the Church Hill Association, and any other grants we’re able to get, we feel good about our chances of getting there!

We are running a stretch goal campaign that would allow us to get something at the $6000.00 mark and gives us the most options and possibilities as we meet more goals!

Basic goal: $6,000 (one large piece of equipment, such as the Octopus Seesaw)
Stretch goal 1: $9,900 (one larger piece of equipment, such as the Garden Seesaw)
Stretch goal 2: $15,200 (one large piece of equipment + two small, such as the Octopus Seesaw and two Spinner Bowls)
Stretch goal 3: $22,000 (two large pieces of equipment, such as the Forest Lake Boat and the Octopus Seesaw)

Whether you live down the street, you come to play basketball, or you use the community gardens this is where all corners of Church Hill come together. We want to continue to make this the very best space that we believe the neighborhood deserves!

Please share and pass along the donation link and the flyer below and a huge THANK YOU in advance, we truly believe that this amazing community can make this happen!
