Enrichmond is honored to have served the people, parks and public spaces of Richmond for the last 25 years. To highlight our accomplishments and move into the next quarter century we will be hosting our 25th Anniversary Celebration and Trailblazer Awards at the Science Museum of Virginia- Thalhimer Pavilion on April 10th from 7pm-9pm.
25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
We could not be more proud to announce our special guest for the evening will be John Woolard, Google’s Vice President of Energy.
A native of Richmond, Woolard was directly involved in the first Friends group effort under the Enrichmond umbrella – the Belle Isle trail and ropes course. He is now helping Google transform global energy production. He has been listed in Forbes Magazine’s “Names You Need To Know” and has more than two decades of energy technology sector experience as an executive, entrepreneur and investor.
As the CEO of BrightSource Energy Woolard managed the development and installation of the largest utility-scale solar power plant in the world. He also co-founded Silicon Energy, one of the first successful clean technology companies.
Woolard is an alumnus of the University of Virginia and the University of California, Berkeley, and has been a Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. He spent a great deal of time on the James River as an avid kayaker and lover of all things outdoors.
Over the last quarter century we have seen amazing efforts that preserve our parks, inspired the youth of Richmond to get outdoors, cleaned up the James River, expanded our City’s tree canopy, restored stream banks, and highlighted our beautiful natural surroundings through environmentally conscious recreational activities. We know you have seen even more. It’s time we honor and celebrate those individuals and organizations leading the environmental and sustainable movement in Richmond.
The Trailblazer Awards will be an annual celebration honoring citizens and organizations that are making significant contributions to the environmental well-being of the City of Richmond. Awards will include:
Trailblazer Award- Student
